Technical Manager – Railway Infrastructure – Siemens AG

The Siemens Tram Consortium (STC) is currently building the flagship Tram system, People Mover System (PMS), for Qatar Education City (QEC) in Doha/Qatar. The People Mover System (PMS) is the first low floor catenary-free tram system in the world. It uses a Hybrid Energy System (HES) which incorporates a combination of super-capacitors and batteries to power the tram between charging locations along the line. There is 11 km of track serving both North and South Campuses of Education City and will employ 19 trams using the Avenio tram chassis by Siemens.

Siemens is setting up the team to operate and maintain the system once completed and requires experienced Maintenance Personnel for Railway System related Assets and Solutions.

Role Overview
Technical Management and supervision of the Supervisors and Skilled Workers, who are employed within the full Maintenance Section as well as any temporary personnel within this section. Technical Clarification and advice for preventive and corrective maintenance activities for Infrastructure related Assets.

What are my responsibilities?
Development of preventive maintenance related documentation, e.g. Working Procedures
Coordination with Engineering Departments and further implementation of corrective maintenance documentation, e.g. Repair Procedures
Liaisons between the various maintenance and operation departments to manage scheduled maintenance tasks
Chairing of internal meetings within the maintenance section
Co-ordination of the interfaces between the maintenance sections
Responsible for appropriate actions in the event of incidents within the maintenance section
Specifies the requirements for the recruitment of personnel in co-operation with the Head of Maintenance Department, the Human Resources Administrator and Technical Workshop Managers.
Suggests training programs for the staff under management of the Technical Departments
Optimization of maintenance tasks as result of ongoing analysis
Checking of Inspection results and deciding on appropriate actions
Analyzing of the maintenance history for the related equipment and facilities
Responsible for the reporting system to ensure the availability of sufficient and suitable spares for his area of supervision
Responsible for the speedy availability of suitable manpower, adequate tools and materials in events of incidents

What do I need to qualify for this job?
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent
Proven track record in similar projects for not less than 10 years
Intensive Experience in Infrastructure Railway related Systems, PIS, SCADA, TSS, PDA, Time Clock Systems, TETRANET, VICOS and Track work Experience is an advantage
3 years of experience in administration, project management and desirable in public transportation
First managerial experience is highly appreciated
Good analysis and reporting skills
Solid Microsoft Office tools as well as modeling tools.
Very good level of English language, Arabic language would be very good to have but not a must
Ability to work under pressure, able to manage priorities and to assimilate new technical knowledge
Customer focused, attention to details and results oriented
