About the role:
In the role of Vice President Financial Control – Revenue, you will be responsible for the development of the financial management strategy and contributes to the development of the strategic goals of the organisation with specific emphasis on Airline Passenger Revenue and profitability of the airline’s passenger and Executive Business Jet lines of business.

You will organize annually the Long Range Planning (LRP) activities of the Group with the airline being the engine driving the planning process and participate in the development and implementation of more sophisticated policies, procedures and initiatives throughout the business to drive improvement to the profit outlook.

You will also lead a team of Senior Business Managers providing dynamic financial support to the business to ensure airline financial performance in line with plan is achieved.

Key accountabilities of the role:
Strategy, Vision and Leadership

Advise the CFO and other key members of the senior management on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters.
Serve as the management liaison to the Chief Officer and select senior working groups; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at select meetings.
Contribute to the development of Qatar Airways Group goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organisation.
Establish and implement long and short range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives.


Present an objective view of the airline’s financial situation and provide critical evaluation and sound recommendations for the allocation of resources in the most efficient way to drive improved results.
Provision of key reports and business evaluation to support business decisions and keep airline management focused on attaining their goals.
Represent the organisation externally, as necessary, in any negotiation or legislation item related to the financial stewardship of the company.
Deliver Five Star (Accurate; Timely; Complete; Relevant and Cost effective) financial services to the business in line with the QR Values.

Business Support

Recommend to Corporate Planning & Commercial based on sound analysis the following with a view to improve profitability:
route & O&D profit improvement steps
fleet re-assignments with a view to improve overall profitability
potential inward / outward leasing options to meet demands for fleet re-assignments
changes to business cases as presented by Corporate Planning & Commercial as concerning new route / frequency
changes to Code Share Agreements, Joint Business Agreements, Special Prorate Agreements etc.. as submitted by Corporate Planning and Commercial
channel shifting strategies
strategies to optimise QR’s cost of sales
strategies to optimise Fixed and Variable costs of the airline
Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, standards and procedures for Line Departments.
Responsible for Group Consolidation and Financial Control of the Airline inclusive of planning, coordinating and executing the annual budget process.
Ensure stringent analysis of sector and network routes are in line with the airline financial performance plan and ensure that any strategic plans are developed and competitive.
Provide analytical support to Group Management for any tender or business case for delivery.
Improve the administrative and operational accounting systems and services to expedite efficiency and productivity.

Management, Leadership and Development

Oversee, direct and organise the work of the Financial Control Team supporting all departments in the airline to deliver their objectives.
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
Ensure staff members receive training and development in line with their expected performance level to promoting sustainable succession planning within Finance.
Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities and conduct annual performance appraisals.
Take responsibility for own ongoing personal development and growth of expertise.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with a professional qualified accountancy qualification. An MBA is also preferred.

A minimum 10 years of job-related experience is required with experience with both external audit and in-house financial management in a high growth organisation. Airline Experience is preferred.
